In the UK, if we only ever ventured out in "good light" (assuming that most people would define that as being dry and sunny) we'd come home empty-handed almost every time. Having a bit of imagination and being adaptable are characteristics photographers need in their armoury.

Your post arrived just as I needed it. I wanted to take pictures of stray zinnias in a field and the light was so harsh. There were weeds everywhere. The whole scene hurt my eyes. But, your words were still in mind, so I spent some time just breathing and reconsidering my rush to judge. In the end I made two lovely pictures, not perfect pictures, but still ones that I am proud of because I let go of the requirement that everything be "just right."
